NEW

The Envirus Hydrophobic Black Mask is designed to provide extra protection where it may be needed. We have worked with scientists, fabric experts, industrial and technical wear manufacturers to come up with a design we think achieves a great level of protection without compromising comfort or fit. The mask has two layers and features a slot in which a filter may be added. 5 filters are included with purchase

Hydrophobic

We use a medical-grade water repellent (hydrophobic) finish. This finish is tested to medical-grade Level 1 with water repellent outer. The outer fabric passed an independent spray test to international standard AATCC 22-2017 at the highest rating of 100 indicating no sticking or wetting of the face.

Antimicrobial

The next to skin layer is a breathable fabric that has shown to have antimicrobial properties. We are currently in the process of getting our own independent testing done which we will make available in the near future.

FEATURES

Nose Bridge: The bridge of the nose is a point of leakage that affects many masks. We have inserted a mouldable, comfortable nose bridge to ensure a better fit and minimise leakage. Just squeeze gently and push onto the nose and against the face to mould the mask to your face.

Over the head straps: We have tested many designs including around the ears. In our experience over the head designs are more comfortable. Our staff working in the mask construction area are required to wear masks during manufacture and are wearing them for a large part of the day.

Flexible and adjustable elastic: We use a thicker high quality elastic which is flexible and provides a comfortable fit. The elastic features an adjustable strap to accommodate various face sizes.

Durability: We have tested the hydrophobic masks for 30 Industrial Wash Cycles at over 60 degrees and 30 drying cycles. Masks still repelled water and had no apparent degradation of water repellent properties. We would recommend replacing the mask on approximately 30 washes depending on condition. Water droplets should bead on the outer surface.

Fit and comfort:  If you observe people wearing masks in public, you will notice there are often gaps down the side of the nose, under the chin or sides. A well fitted mask is essential in providing protection. We have used years of tailoring expertise and chosen flexible materials to ensure a comfortable and well fitted mask.

Australian made: At Envirus, you receive the service only a local manufacturer can provide and you support our hard working Australian staff. We source quality Australian made fabric.

FAQ

Are your masks reusable? Yes, we have tested the Hydrophobic masks for 30 Industrial Wash Cycles. The mask still repelled water and had no apparent degradation of water repellent properties. We would recommend replacing masks on approximately 30 washes depending on condition.

How many layers are in the mask? The Everyday+ mask features two layers with a pouch where a filter may be added, essentially applying three layers. Our Hydrophobic mask features two layers with a pouch as well as Hydrophobic and Antimicrobial material. We recommend the Hydrophobic masks for further protection.

Where are the masks made? Our masks are made in Newcastle, NSW by our team of designers and seamstresses.

Can I wash the PM2.5 filter? No, While the masks are reusable the filters are not designed to be washed.

Do you make masks for children below the ages of ten? Currently we do not offer facemasks for children below the ages of ten. However, Envirus is a continually evolving brand and is currently developing further products. Stay on the lookout for updates.

Will my mask be easy to breath through? All facemasks, regardless of the material will provide some degree of increased inhalation and exhalation resistance. Facemasks are designed to create a barrier to limit airborne water particles from passing to or from your mouth or nose and this barrier will create some degree of increased airflow resistance. Multiple layers and greater filtration inherently means greater resistance to breath.  A single layer paper surgical mask will for example have lower inhalation and exhalation resistance than a multi layer fabric mask.

How do I ensure a good seal? Your Facemask should provide a good seal on all sides to limit  air from entering or escaping. If you have gaps and airflow through the side or bottom of the mask this means airborne water particles can also pass through these gaps.

Why do ENVIRUS masks not have a valve? At Envirus, we do not recommend the use of valves for the prevention of waterborne particle protection. Valves are generally used in industry dust masks when the prevention of dust entering the mask is the goal. A valve however does not necessarily stop airborne water particles from passing out of the mask during exhalation.

Nose Breathing vs. Mouth Breathing?

When using a mask it is important to try and breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Breathing through your nose provides benefits that can help the body fight viral infections. The reason is that your nasal cavities produce the molecule nitric oxide. For more information go to: More Information

HOW TO WEAR A FACEMASK?

Cloth face masks should be worn in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as in grocery stores and in areas of significant community based transmission. Masks are considered an additional measure and are not a substitute for other safe practices such as social distancing, proper hand sanitising and testing.

  1. Sanitise hands before handling mask
  2. Place mask over mouth and nose
  3. Pull elastics over head for snug fit
  4. Mould nose bridge to fit face
  5. Do not touch your mask while wearing it

Remove the mask by lifting off without touching the front of the mask or your face. Wash your hands immediately after removing your mask. If you accidentally touch your mask, wash or sanitize your hands. Wash in hot water with detergent between use and dry.
